Fooga - the open source browser based video editor
Fooga is an open source video editor and collaboration platform for distributed video productions. It is build from the ground up using open source tools: Ruby on Rails and FFmpeg.
Edit in the browser like you have never edited before!
We have worked hard to make editing in Fooga feel like a desktop application. It’s not perfect yet but it is definitely going in the right direction. It has for example: easy trimming, instant preview, version history and integrated chat… and it is getting better all the time!
The infrastructure for experimental collaborative productions
Online video editors are not big news… but an open source one is! If you have a little bit of technical knowledge you can install Fooga on your own server. Once uploaded to the server, any member of your team can edit, view the edits or leave comments remotely via the Internet. The really interesting part is that you can modify Fooga to your own needs. You could for example use it to handle full TV quality videos.
By using Fooga, you get full control of the software, the production and the intellectual property. You don’t need to accept any copyright policies other than those you choose.

The future of Fooga
Fooga originated out of a R&D project at Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia. The research focused on video production methods and video education possibilities using the internet. Stadia will continue to take part in the future development.
Fooga is an Open Source project and the further development will be directed by the Open Video Institute: a community for organizing development and research collaboration between institutions and individuals.

Fooga is still in its infancy. We expect the software to evolve considerably from where we are now.
